Pattie is a mother of two children with Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Louisiana State University in 1991. She worked as a social worker and served in the Louisiana Army National Guard until she began homeschooling her three children. While she served in the military, she received several awards including the National Defense Service Medal and The Army Achievement Medal. Pattie was awarded The Army Achievement Medal for meritorious achievement while serving as Executive Officer for HHD 165th Transportation Battalion. She is also a founding member of SDA.
Pattie currently resides in North Carolina with her family. When she is not busy homeschooling her children or attending to their medical needs, she enjoys writing, reading, hiking, biking and camping. She also works on Cards for a Cure to help raise SDS awareness and money for SDS education and research.
